CONDITIONS:

-13C at cabin elevation. Trace amounts of new snow in the past 24 hours. 22cm in the past 7 days. Total snowpack heights variable based on riding zone but 218 cm measured at the plot. Total snowfall this season 453cm. We’ve seen light snowfall everyday over the past few days, adding approximately 10 cm of fresh powder on top of 30-50 cm (or more) of settling snow from the holiday storm cycle. Snow conditions remain highly variable, with wind-affected and firmer snow in exposed alpine areas, while sheltered spots below treeline offer deeper, softer powder. Popular areas close to the trails and cabins are tracked out but there are plenty of pockets left of good powder riding if you are willing to explore a little. Forecast is calling for the next storm to arrive on Friday - check back for updates as this is a little to far out to be 100% and we are watching the models closely to see how this develops. Groomed trails are in fantastic shape across the board!

Today: Possible morning fog and low cloud, otherwise sunny with cloudy periods.  High near -4.

Tonight: Clear with cloudy periods and possible fog patches.  Low near -10.

We’re Open! Staging is at our regular valley bottom parking areas and all trails have great coverage.

Conditions remain highly variable, with wind-affected snow at exposed high elevations and deeper, softer powder in sheltered areas at or below treeline. Over the weekend, mild temperatures and heavy traffic on the lowest valley-bottom trails prevented freshly groomed sections from setting up properly. Thanks to cooler temperatures and lighter traffic, the grooming crew has been able to get these sections back into prime shape.

Total snowfall this season 431cm. Riders can expect to find between 30-50cm+ of settling snow from this week’s storm cycle out there. We have had warm temperatures over the weekend at valley bottom to about 1540m making for heavier snow on the lowest sections of trails coupled with winds at upper elevation in exposed areas redistributing snow. It’s a bit of a mixed bag out there but the riding is still great!

Today: Cloudy with morning fog patches and possibly a few sunny breaks. 40% chance of morning flurries, 70% chance of flurries during the afternoon. Minor-low end light accumulation possible. High near -3.

-3C at cabin elevation. 32cm of new snow in the past 48 hours. 71cm in the past 7 days. Total snowpack heights variable based on riding zone but 227cm measured at the plot. Total snowfall this season 430cm. In classic Fernie fashion the weather has been moist at valley bottom with dry powder snow up top. Freezing line has been variable but expect heavier snow below 1540m or so (approx 1/3 way up the trail). Open and exposed areas are windblown snow with sheltered areas in the trees still holding lots of great powder riding from this weekends storm cycle.

CONDITIONS:

-3C at cabin elevation this AM. 34*cm of new snow in the past 24 hours hours and over 60cm new snow in the past 7 days (over 413cm total this season). Total snowpack heights variable but around 230cm at the cabins. NOTE: There has been substantially more new snow, upwards of 50cm yesterday morning and another 15cm overnight but the measurement reflects what is actually on the stake at time of measurement as settled snowpack. The reason for this variation is the natural settlement of the fresh snow that fell yesterday AM as well as changing density with a heavier 10cm of snow that fell overnight. As a rider - this means that sledding at upper elevations and sheltered areas will likely feel like a full 50cm of pow riding while cabin elevation or below and exposed areas may be riding denser and firmer today.

Today: Cloudy with a few morning flurries, 50% chance of flurries or occasional snow during the afternoon. Minor to light accumulation possible.  High near -4.

Tonight: Cloudy with a 60% chance of flurries or occasional snow.  Minor to light accumulation possible.  Low near -6.

GROOMING:

We’re Open! Staging is at our regular valley bottom parking areas.

Corbin: Groomed from the staging area to the McClatchie and Barnes connector yesterday.

Coal Creek: Big night last night on the trails with the 50cm +/- of new snow and heavy traffic. Pushing that much new snow eats up a lot of fuel so core access and family trails groomed with corduroy and some trails only bladed and track packed to help conserve fuel so we could get the most done. Coal Creek and Doug Dean groomed last night with tiller. Summit trail bladed and track packed. Matheson groomed 4 days ago.

Morrissey: Morrissey and McEvoy groomed last night with tiller. Notch Trail groomed yesterday to the peak (tiller).

Hartley: Open. Several large trees removed off trail and groomed yesterday from staging area to East Fork or the Sulphur yesterday.
