RIDING AREAS

Fernie is a true sledders playground offering endless powder-filled riding opportunities for all abilities and styles of snowmobiling. Through land-use agreements with government and private landowners, the Fernie Snowmobile Association is able to offer access to five distinct riding areas across the Elk Valley. Annual membership and day-use fees support provision and maintenance of 5000km a year of winter trail grooming, 3 warming shelters, signage, events, and trailhead facilities.

There are several different types of Motor Vehicle Closure Areas (MVCA’s) in place throughout the Elk Valley to preserve non-motorized recreation opportunities, sensitive ecosystems, and wildlife habitats. Please watch the video here and click the link provided to learn more including trail maps and applicable closure dates.

NOTE: No overnight camping, fires, or dumping is permitted in the staging area. Groups of 10 or more riders must notify the FSA prior to using the area for courses, events organized rides, etc as special permitting and regulations apply.
