Dec 24, 2022 FSA Groomer’s Report

Current Conditions:

More seasonable weather has returned! Temps this morning at 6AM: -17C at cabin elevation with light winds. 38cm new snow over the past 7 days, 10cm in the past 24 hours, total snowpack heights between 130-230cm. Total snowfall this season 368cm.

Grooming:

Corbin: OPEN. Groomed last night from the staging area to the McClatchie.

Coal Creek: OPEN. Coal Creek Trail, Summit Trail, Doug Dean Trail groomed last night.

Morrissey: CLOSED. Currently demobilizing post timber harvesting activities. Snowcats currently working to rebuild the snow road and fill in bridges on the Morrissey trail from the staging area to the Summit Trail junction Trail is groomed from the Summit / Doug Dean to the Wranglers Cabin. Do not drive up the road/park - you will likely be ‘trapped’ in by the snowcat. FSA will not be grooming the McEvoy or Pipeline this winter as the areas remain CLOSED for pipeline construction. Hartley: OPEN. The first groom is scheduled is behind a few days due to extreme cold weather this week. Aiming for a groom after Christmas.

Ram: OPEN. No grooming. Cabin open. The Lodgepole FSR will be plowed from the lower Morrissey parking lot to the Flathead this winter for timber harvesting. Expect heavy industrial traffic at all times. There is excellent information regarding radio call up/down procedures, channel maps and more HERE.
