Current Conditions:
Extreme cold warning in effect. -26C cabin elevation (light wind) / -30C ridgetop (winds 38km/hr) at 6am. No grooming last night to prevent damage to equipment and to reduce potential hazard to our operator working alone in a remote backcountry environment with prolonged response times in this extreme weather. Less than 20 people on trail since last groom on Sunday.
Special Notices:
Check the avalanche bulletin before you ride at www.avalanche.ca
Update on Pipeline construction / Morrissey closures HERE.
Grooming:
Corbin: OPEN. Last groomed Dec 16th from the staging area to the McClatchie.
Coal Creek: OPEN. Coal Creek Trail, Summit Trail, Doug Dean Trail groomed Dec 18th.
Morrissey: CLOSED. Tentative opening before Christmas. Currently demobilizing post timber harvesting activities. Snowcats will be working Dec 17-24th to rebuild the snow road and fill in bridges on the Morrissey trail from the staging area to the Wranglers Cabin. Do not drive up the road/park - you will likely be ‘trapped’ in by the snowcat. FSA will not be grooming the McEvoy or Pipeline this winter as the areas remain CLOSED for pipeline construction. Please see the map and further details HERE.
Hartley: OPEN. The first groom is scheduled for Dec 22, 2022
Ram: OPEN. No grooming. Cabin open. The Lodgepole FSR will be plowed from the lower Morrissey parking lot to the Flathead this winter for timber harvesting. Expect heavy industrial traffic at all times. There is excellent information regarding radio call up/down procedures, channel maps and more HERE.
