November 26th, 2024 FSA Grooming Report


CONDITIONS:

-7C at cabin elevation this AM. 15cm new snow received in the past 24 hours.  94cm of new snow in the past 7 days. Total snowpack heights variable but around 150cm at the cabin. 

Today: A few flurries ending near noon then mainly cloudy. 40 percent chance of flurries near Fernie this afternoon. Local amount 2 cm. Wind becoming southeast 20 km/h gusting to 40 late this morning. High zero. Wind chill minus 10 this morning. UV index 1 or low.


GROOMING:

Corbin: Scheduled to open Dec 29th. Crew was out yesterday and completed the following tasks. Watch for grooming equipment on trail at all times:

  • Plowed parking lot

  • Track packed and road building activities from the trailhead to the McClatchie junction.

Coal Creek: Scheduled to open Dec 20th or sooner as conditions allow. Grooming team completed the following on Nov 24th and we will be continuing to work throughout the next two weeks to shoot for an early opening as conditions allow. Watch for grooming equipment on trail at all times.

  • Road plowed to Coal Creek staging area and staging area plowed. Berms built at trailhead.

  • Trail built between groomer building and Coal Creek Staging Area

  • Road Building and track packing from Coal Creek Staging Area to Rolling Hills Cabin

Morrissey: Scheduled to open Dec 20th or sooner as conditions allow.

Hartley: First groom scheduled before Christmas as conditions allow.

Ram: Open. No grooming.
