Grooming Report: February 25 2022

WEATHER

No new snow overnight. 8cm in the past 7 days. Total snowpack heights in most areas is 260cm. Temperatures this week have been unseasonably cold. Day time high today -8C. Increasing cloud expected over the weekend, windy at times, day time highs to -2C. 40% chance of flurries with light accumulations possible. Forecast is looking like the next major storm should be arriving Monday with up to 60cm new snow possible by next weekend.

GROOMED

Morrissey: Morrissey Trail, Summit Trail, Doug Dean Trail groomed last night. Note that the Morrissey bridge over the Elk River is being re-decked and will be CLOSED Feb 28-Mar 3 and Mar 7 - 10th from 9am-5pm daily.

Coal Creek: Coal Creek Trail groomed last night. TRAIL CHANGE: Please note that the ‘old’ trail does not exist anymore due to flood damage - the FSA has built a NEW trail this fall on the left bank of Coal Creek that rejoins the ‘old’ Coal Creek trail just above the Matheson junction.

Corbin: Active logging and hauling in progress 7 days a week out of the Barnes / Elliot area. The FSA and Canfor have worked to build a bypass trail on the shoulder of the road for the first 6km to allow both groups to operate - sledders MUST use the groomed trail on the shoulder of the road. It is illegal and very dangerous to snowmobile on the plowed road.

Hartley: Groomed Feb 16th from the staging area to the East Fork of the Sulphur.

Ram: Closed to large, impassable washout near km45. Cabin remains locked
