Grooming Report

WEATHER

5cm new snow overnight. 11cm in the past 48 hours. Total snowpack heights in most areas is 260cm. Fernie has had quite warm weather for the past two weeks so riding conditions are generally sun affected and firm with the fresh snow overtop. Forecasts are calling for more substantial snowfall to pick up again this Saturday around noon with 15cm expected over the Family Day weekend.

GROOMED

BONUS: The FSA received numerous requests from the public asking if we could groom the Lodgepole FSR due to the extremely rough trail and anticipated heavy family traffic over the coming holiday weekend accessing ski touring terrain up Harvey. While this is a trail not typically used by our usual snowmobile members, the request did meet our society mission statement to promote safe, organized, backcountry access for the public and was amenable to the road permit holder. Lodgepole groomed from Morrissey through Harvey yesterday at a cost of $600 to the Fernie Snowmobile Association. If you use this trail and would like to support efforts like this, please consider purchasing an annual membership or $25 day ticket to help offset the costs via the button below.

Morrissey: All Morrissey loops groomed Feb 14th. Both parking lots open. Next groom Feb 16th.

Coal Creek: Open Sat/Sun weekly ONLY for trucks with decks due to construction and extremely limited parking. More info HERE. We anticipate repairs to be complete by Family Day Weekend. Next groom Feb 16th.

Corbin: Groomed from the staging area to the McClatchie on Sunday. Active logging and hauling in progress 7 days a week out of the Barnes / Elliot area. The FSA and Canfor have worked to build a bypass trail on the shoulder of the road for the first 6km to allow both groups to operate - sledders MUST use the groomed trail on the shoulder of the road. It is illegal and very dangerous to snowmobile on the plowed road.

Hartley: Last groomed Feb 16th from the staging area to the East Fork of the Sulphur.

Ram: Closed to large, impassable washout near km45. Cabin remains locked.
