Feb 1, 2025 FSA Grooming Report
CONDITIONS:
This morning, it’s -5°C at cabin elevation with steady snowfall, while town sits at 3°C. In the past 24 hours, we’ve seen 31 cm of fresh snow, bringing the settled snowpack to 194 cm and the season total to 493 cm. After several weeks of our typical January dry spell, Mother Nature turned on the taps yesterday!
The freezing line has fluctuated overnight, likely sitting around 1540 m this morning (near the top of the Flood Bypass Trail at Coal Creek or the graffiti rock at Morrissey). Below this level, there’s been no refreeze, leaving the lowest 3-4 km of trail in slushy, "slurpee-like" conditions that will quickly become whooped out without trail setup after grooming.
However, mid and upper trails are in fantastic shape, featuring dry, powdery snow for excellent riding conditions. Enjoy the fresh snow—ride safe and have fun!
Today: Occasional snow during the morning, accumulation from 2 to 5 cm. Cloudy with a 60% chance of flurries and possibly a few sunny breaks during the afternoon. Possibly windy at times. High -3 or -4.
Tonight: Periods of snow. Light to moderate accumulation. Increasing wind, risk of blowing snow. Low near -12.
GROOMING:
Staging is at our regular valley bottom parking areas and all trails have great coverage.
Corbin: Groomed last night.
Coal Creek: Coal Creek, Doug Dean, Summit Trail groomed last night. Martin groomed yesterday. Both sides of the Matheson groomed 4 days ago. Parking lot plowed.
Morrissey: Morrissey and McEvoy groomed last night.
