Grooming Report

Dec 29th, 2024 FSA Grooming Report

CONDITIONS:

-3C at cabin elevation this AM. 34*cm of new snow in the past 24 hours hours and over 60cm new snow in the past 7 days (over 413cm total this season). Total snowpack heights variable but around 230cm at the cabins. NOTE: There has been substantially more new snow, upwards of 50cm yesterday morning and another 15cm overnight but the measurement reflects what is actually on the stake at time of measurement as settled snowpack. The reason for this variation is the natural settlement of the fresh snow that fell yesterday AM as well as changing density with a heavier 10cm of snow that fell overnight. As a rider - this means that sledding at upper elevations and sheltered areas will likely feel like a full 50cm of pow riding while cabin elevation or below and exposed areas may be riding denser and firmer today.

Today: Cloudy with a few morning flurries, 50% chance of flurries or occasional snow during the afternoon. Minor to light accumulation possible.  High near -4.

Tonight: Cloudy with a 60% chance of flurries or occasional snow.  Minor to light accumulation possible.  Low near -6.

GROOMING:

We’re Open! Staging is at our regular valley bottom parking areas.

Corbin: Groomed from the staging area to the McClatchie and Barnes connector yesterday.

Coal Creek: Big night last night on the trails with the 50cm +/- of new snow and heavy traffic. Pushing that much new snow eats up a lot of fuel so core access and family trails groomed with corduroy and some trails only bladed and track packed to help conserve fuel so we could get the most done. Coal Creek and Doug Dean groomed last night with tiller. Summit trail bladed and track packed. Matheson groomed 4 days ago.

Morrissey: Morrissey and McEvoy groomed last night with tiller. Notch Trail groomed yesterday to the peak (tiller).

Hartley: Open. Several large trees removed off trail and groomed yesterday from staging area to East Fork or the Sulphur yesterday.

Ram: Open. No grooming.

Video: Dec 29th at Coal Creek S-bend elevation 1350m elevation.
