NOW HIRING - GROOMER
The Fernie Snowmobile Association is seeking a qualified casual / part time snowcat groomer operator to start immediately. Reporting to the Grooming and Maintenance Committees, our snowcat groomer operators will play an integral role in the provision of a safe, enjoyable backcountry trail network for residents and visitors in the Elk Valley. This position requires an experienced operator who can work independently in a variable, backcountry, winter work environment while adhering to safe work procedures and organization guidelines.
Hours:
The position requires the operator to complete one 6-10 hour grooming shift up Hartley once a week, and two 3-5 hour grooming shifts on the Morrissey Parking Lot Connector Trail each week on a flexible shift pattern. Shifts may be adjusted due to weather and trail use needs.
Responsibilities
Adhere to safe work procedures, standard operating procedures, and safety legislation.
Perform equipment inspections and basic equipment maintenance.
Reporting unusual conditions, noises, or trail concerns to Committee Leads in a timely fashion.
Complete accurate logs and grooming activity reports.
Safe operation of grooming equipment
Effective communications as a representative of the Fernie Snowmobile Association.
Other tasks as required such as inspection of cabins and staging facilities, collection of garbage, shoveling, light maintenance of facilities and trail markers.
