Feb 18 2023 FSA Groomer’s Report

EVENT TODAY: Avalanche Awareness Days at the Rolling Hills Cabin 10am-3pm!

Current Conditions:

9cm new snow in the past 24hrs. 17cm new snow in the past 7 days. Snowpack height 190cm+ in riding areas. Total snowfall this season 579cm. Temps this morning: -5.8C with moderate winds at cabin elevation and -9.0C with moderate winds at ridgetop. Today: Cloudy with sunny breaks late in the day. Flurries possible. Wind from the southwest at 40 km/h until noon then decreasing. Temperature -8˚C. Sunday: A mix of sun and cloud. No precipitation. Wind from the southwest 40 - 60 km/h. Temperature -7˚C to -3˚C.

Grooming:

Corbin: OPEN. Groomed to the McClatchie last night.

Coal Creek: OPEN. Coal Creek Trail, Doug Dean Trail, Summit Trail groomed last night.

Morrissey: OPEN. Groomed from the staging area to Wranglers Cabin last night. FSA will not be grooming the McEvoy or Pipeline this winter as the areas remain CLOSED for pipeline construction. Please see the map and further details HERE. Very limited parking this season at Morrissey; lower lot closed and upper lot full of construction materials - not suitable for trucks with trailers. Do not snowmobile on the plowed road from the parking lot to the trailhead kiosk - all sledders must use the connector trail. It is illegal to snowmobile on a plowed road, very dangerous for yourself and public, and is subject to a hefty fine from the RCMP.

Hartley: OPEN. Groomed Feb 17th.

Ram: OPEN. No grooming. Cabin open. The Lodgepole FSR will be plowed from the lower Morrissey parking lot to the Flathead this winter for timber harvesting. Expect heavy industrial traffic at all times. There is excellent information regarding radio call up/down procedures, channel maps and more HERE.
