Jan 18 2023 FSA Groomer’s Report

Current Conditions:

2cm new snow in the past 24hrs. 20cm new snow in the past 7 days. Snowpack height 170cm+ in riding areas. Total snowfall this season 506cm. Wet flurries and high freezing levels produced moist surface snow above 2100 m over the past weekend. Temps this morning: -5.2C with light winds at cabin elevation and -9.3C and light at ridgetop. Today: Cloudy with isolated flurries. Moderate southwest winds, potentially strong in the alpine, increasing over the day. Treeline high temperatures around -5.

Grooming:

Corbin: OPEN. Groomed to the McClatchie last night.

Coal Creek: OPEN. Coal Creek, Doug Dean, Summit Trail groomed last night. Work on the new kids mini track is underway near the horse corral - the loop as been built and groomed but is currently unsigned - reminder that this is for the little rippers under 12 only please. Big kids stay off.

Morrissey: OPEN. Groomed from the staging area to Wranglers Cabin. FSA will not be grooming the McEvoy or Pipeline this winter as the areas remain CLOSED for pipeline construction. Please see the map and further details HERE. Very limited parking this season at Morrissey; lower lot closed and upper lot full of construction materials - not suitable for trucks with trailers. Do not snowmobile on the plowed road from the parking lot to the trailhead kiosk - all sledders must use the connector trail. It is illegal to snowmobile on a plowed road, very dangerous for yourself and public, and is subject to a hefty fine from the RCMP.

Hartley: OPEN. Groomed from the staging area to the East Fork of the Sulphur Jan 12th. Considerable blow-down and downed trees removed.

Ram: OPEN. No grooming. Cabin open. The Lodgepole FSR will be plowed from the lower Morrissey parking lot to the Flathead this winter for timber harvesting. Expect heavy industrial traffic at all times. There is excellent information regarding radio call up/down procedures, channel maps and more HERE.
