Jan 17 2024 FSA Grooming Report


Current Conditions:

-16C at cabin elevation. 10cm new snow in the past 24 hours. 16cm in the past 7 days. Total settled snowpack heights 166cm or more in mid to upper riding elevations.

Today: Snow, becoming heavier with snow showers during the afternoon.  Accumulation from 12 to 20 cm.  Windy at times, high wind chill possible.   High temperature near -16. Tonight: Snow, possibly heavy at times with snow showers during the evening, easing to a few flurries overnight.  Moderate to possibly heavy accumulation of low density snow.  Gusty evening winds, high wind chill.   Low near -21.

The Elk Valley is climbing out from under an extreme cold weather advisory from Wednesday January 11th through January 17th. More details HERE. Our grooming program may be adjusted to protect equipment and staff including shifting to day grooming only, reducing grooming km to stay closer to home, or postponing grooming entirely until conditions warm.

Grooming:

Corbin: Open. Cold weather start issues with the snowcat last night - preheater not working so very long start up process with cat. Parking lots plowed but trail not grooming last night. Working on fix and next groom scheduled for Friday.

Coal Creek: Open. Coal Creek, Summit, and Doug Dean groomed last night.

Morrissey: Open. McEvoy Trail groomed last night.

Hartley: Open.

Ram: Open.
