First Day of Winter 19/20 Operations
Welcome Back – We’ve Missed You!
Coal Creek CLOSED by private landowner for logging operations. Road is currently plowed from Coal Creek Staging Area, up to Matheson, Paige’s Draw, Martin and through to the Michel Creek bridge near Corbin – no snowmobiling permitted. Please do not park on the road and block logging traffic.
We are anticipating the following to be groomed and OPEN for Saturday: Morrissey parking lots plowed (upper and lower), Morrissey Trail, Summit Trail, Notch Trail, McEvoy East Trail, Notch Trail, Doug Dean Trail. Conditions and weather dependant. Kiosk will be staffed 7 days a week starting on Saturday – please have your memberships ready to present or $25 day use trail fees in effect (cash only).
It may be pouring rain in town but it’s definitely winter up top and highway 3 into FERNIE is OPEN. Morrissey, Doug Dean, part of the Pipeline, and Summit Trail freshly groomed for Saturday’s rider’s! Rolling Hills and Wranglers Cabin OPEN. 28cm new snow last night & 8 cm new snow through the day today with strong, gusty winds at times. Expect variable trail conditions from Morrissey staging area to Waterfall with good powder snow riding at upper elevation. Morrissey trailhead kiosk OPEN: please present membership card or $25 day use fee in effect.
AM Update from the kiosk: 4C at staging area. Road from hwy to staging is icy but sanded. Parking lot connector trail has limited snow coverage with icy spots. Lowest Morrissey trail is hard packed ice but turns to snow around waterfall. Another 23cm new snow overnight at upper elevations.
