Morrissey Weather: -8C overnight, no winds, no new snow, snowpack base is 188cm. Rain events and warming over the past week has left spring-like conditions and ice below 1500m on the trail (very difficult to groom effectively). Trail and riding areas above that elevation are still dry powder or packed powder with 31cm new snow received over the past 7 days.
Corbin Weather: -3C, no winds, no new snow, snowpack base variable but around 140cm. 30-40cm of new snow received on the trail last Wednesday.
Groomed: Morrissey to Wranglers, Doug Dean, Summit Trail, Notch, Corbin from Staging Area to Rain Gauge, NEW GROOMING McEvoy East (from Wrangler’s Cabin to pipeline, and new section of pipeline groomed to return back to Wranglers Cabin– see map below in PINK). 62km+ of grooming completed last night!
A reminder that River Road Extension and Coal Creek are CLOSED for snowmobiling by the private landowner (areas in RED on map below) – there is no access up Coal Creek, up the Matheson, or past Paige’s draw up to Martin / Leech. Active hauling is in progress and the riding areas are currently stripped of snow from logging activities. The FSA has a zero-tolerance policy and fully supports the efforts of the landowner and conservation officers to enforce closures. IT IS ILLEGAL IN BC TO SNOWMOBILE ON A PLOWED ROAD! Those riding in closed areas, not stopping at the kiosk, or threatening FSA staff and volunteers may face fines and permanent loss of trail/facility access. Please help us spread the word and report information on anyone you see riding in these areas to firstname.lastname@example.org so we can provide education.
